INTRODUCTION TO OIL & GAS Course

The Introduction to Oil and Gas Course presents in a simple, complete, and updated way the activities inherent to the hydrocarbons Exploration and Production. It will be discussed the intrinsic environmental impact risks and the influence of the renewable energies in the oil/gas industry, also.

COURSE DURATION: 1 day

LEVEL: Foundation / Intermediate

DESIGNED FOR YOU, IF YOU ARE...

A geoscientist, an engineer, O&G executives/managers and even a non-specialist in this industry.

HOW WE BUILD YOUR CONFIDENCE

The teaching methods are both exhibition and active (exercises). It can be implemented both distance and in a face-to-face format.

THE BENEFITS FROM ATTENDING

This course aims to provide participants with firm knowledge about the universe of oil and gas industry.  Similarly, they will be able to understand the processes involved in the O&G production chain (exploration, production, storage, refinement, and transport).

By the end of the course, you will feel confident in your understanding of:

  • The global market of renewable and non-renewable energy sources.

  • How hydrocarbons are generated and accumulated in sedimentary basins.

  • Identify the technical aspects related to a petroleum system.

  • Identify drilling rigs and equipment used in onshore and offshore operations.

  • The O&G supply chain (exploration, production, storage, refining, transport, distribution).

  • The impact of upstream, midstream, and downstream operations on the environment.

TOPICS

  • Fossil and Renewable Energies – An Overview

  • An Outlook for O&G Reserves, Productions, and Consumptions per Country

  • Oil and Gas Historical Prices, Energy Transition, and Global Markets

  • Hydrocarbon Generation, Migration, and Accumulation

  • Oil and Gas Main Physicochemical Characteristics

  • Oil and Gas Quality (API Density, Sulphur Content) vs Market Prices

  • The Upstream, Midstream and Downstream Activities

  • The Environment and The Hydrocarbons

  • Recommended Bibliography and Exercises

DAILY AGENDA

Day 1:

  • All in one day.

Suggestion: 3h morning (9:00h - 12:00h) and 3h afternoon (14:00h - 17:00h).
